Do I need an international driving license ?
A valid driving license (at least one year) is required to pick-up the vehicle. You will have to show it at the counter.
The driving license must be written in Latin characters (European and/or international driving license or translation).
💡 If it is not the case, you need to have an international driving license.
No copy will be accepted.
International or Original Driver's license:
Holders of UK, US, Canadian, Australian and all EU member states are NOT required to supply an International Driving Permit (IDP). Some exceptions exist if the rental country is Italy or Spain (see details below).
Others are mandatory to provide an international driving license
International Driving Permits where required, MUST BE accompanied by the original domestic license of the driver.
This is clearly stated on the international permit. An International permit presented without the domestic license, will not be accepted.

Note: Specificities for renting a car in Italy
If you rent a car in Italy, please note that the International Driving License is mandatory for Non-UE citizens.
*Please note that clients from NON-UE Countries may drive the rented vehicle provided that, at the time of pickup, they show, in addition to their valid national driver’s license, either:
- the original of an international driver’s license compliant to the models set forth in the Geneva or Vienna Conventions
- or the original of a sworn translation of their national driver’s license. It is the customer’s responsibility, before picking up the vehicle, to make sure that he/she is in possession of the aforementioned documentation. The documents listed must be produced at the counter in paper or laminated version and that photographic reproductions or images on mobile phones are not accepted. International driving licenses made on online sites (digital/pdf format) managed by private entities are not accepted.

If you are a US or Canadian citizen, please note that you will need a valid International Driving Permit issued in accordance with the model in Annex 10 of the Geneva International Convention, in order to rent with us.
